Yiannis Hrysomallis, better known as Yanni is a Greek new-age composer and self-taught pianist born on November 14, 1954 in Kalamata, Greece. At the age of 18 he went to study in the U.S. where he began writing music and playing in the band Chameleon. His first album “Optimystique” was released in 1984 and was positively received. Quickly after that, Yanni was signed by Private Music Records. The most popular and best selling Yanni’s album is his 1993 release titled In My Time. The album featured piano and string instruments making this album to be extremely popular. It spent three years on the Billboard charts and one of the album’s tracks received Grammy for the Best Instrumental Composition of the Year.
