An American rock band Sonic Youth was formed in New York City in 1981. The current group’s line up composes of Thurston Moore, Kim Gordon, Lee Ranaldo, Steve Shelley and Mark Ibold. The group is known as the alternative icon. They play in different music styles such as noise rock, no wave, hard core punk, indie, etc. The breakthrough happened in 1990 when the group released their album Goo and the song Kool Thing entered the charts. The next album Dirty also had success and the group was fully recognized. The band is known for instrumental music and for naming albums and tracks in different languages like French, Dutch, Esperanto, Japanese, Lithuanian.
