American alternative rock group A Perfect Circle from Bell Gardens, California, the U.S. was formed in 1999 by Billy Howerdel. He was a guitar technician who worked with such groups as Nine Inch Nails, The Smashing Pumpkins, Tool, Fishbone and Guns N’Roses. Having heard Billy’s demos Tool frontman Maynard James Keenan offered himself as the vocalist of new band and Billy agreed though he wanted female vocals at first. The other band members were also famous musicians who worked with such groups like Nine Inch Nails, The Smashing Pumpkins and Marilyn Manson. The band has released three studio albums – Mer de Noms (2000), Thirteenth Step (2003) and Emotive (2004). Third album contains covers for anti-war songs by John Lennon and Joni Mitchell.
