Mac Dre, birth name Andre Hicks, was born on July 5, 1970 in Oakland, California, the United States and died on November 1, 2004 in Kansas City, Missouri, the U.S. He was an American rapper and he is considered to be a creator of such genre as Thizz music. He was also one of the pioneers of hyphy. During his career he released quite a big number of albums collaborating with many his fellow rappers like Snoop Dogg, Richie Rich, Baby Bash, B-Legit, San Quinn, Yukmouth, P.S.D, Andre Nickatina, Smoov-E, Mac Mall and Too $hort. His lyrics were based mostly on his neighborhood, which was quite a rough area. In 1992 Hicks was sentenced to five years in jail. After his release he met an Executive Producer Bernard Gourley and recorded a new album. In 2000 he founded his own label Thizz Entertainment.
