Biography
Claudio Abbado is an Italian classical conductor. He was born on June 26, 1933, in Milan, Italy. He often states that he wanted to be a conductor since his childhood. Today he is best known as a conductor of the La Scala opera house in Milan, the London Symphony Orchestra, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the Vienna State Opera, and the Berlin Philharmonic orchestra. In the early 1960s, he debuted as a music director at La Scala. All his performances were praised by critics and liked by listeners. During this time, he won several awards including Mitropoulos Prize, Mozart Medal and Koussevitsky Competition. After Mitropoulos Prize, he achieved international recognition. In the late 1990s, he won the Grammy Award for the Best Small Ensemble Performance (with or without conductor).
