Aretha Franklin, birth name Aretha Louise Franklin is an American singer, songwriter and pianist, referred as “The Queen of Soul” or “Lady Soul”, born on March 25, 1942 in Memphis, Tennessee, the United States. Besides soul, she also sings blues, rock, pop, jazz and gospel. In January 1987 she became the first female inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The peak of her career was in the second half of 1960s and at the beginning of 1970s. She rose to fame with such hit singles as I Never Loved a Man, Chain of Fools, (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman and Respect. The last song became the hymn of the feminist movement and topped Billboard Hot 100. During her career she covered many songs by the Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Drifters, Stevie Wonder and others.
