Irish soft rock singer-songwriter Chris De Burgh, birth name Christopher John Davison was born on October 15, 1948 in Venado Tuerto, Santa Fe Province, Argentina. His father was a diplomat that’s why he was born abroad. His mother was a secretary. As diplomat’s work required traveling, De Burgh following his family lived in such places like Malta, Nigeria and Zaire. When he was 12 they moved back to Ireland where he completed his education graduating from Trinity College. Chris decided to begin a professional music career and took his mother’s maiden name De Burgh. He broke through to the mainstream success in 1986 releasing his hit single “Lady in Red”.
