Biography

Ayọ (birth name Joy Olasunmibo Ogunmakin) is a German folk, soul and reggae singer and songwriter. She was born on 14 September 1980, in Frechen near Cologne, Germany. Her music sound is influenced by music style of Pink Floyd, Fela Kuti, Donny Hathaway, Jimmy Cliff and Bob Marley. At the age of 21, she moved to London and later she lived in Paris and New York. In Paris she performed as an open act for soul artist Omar and Cody Chesnutt and caught the attention of Polydor Records. In 2006, she released her breakthrough debut album, Joyful, which contained her well known hit singles such as "Down on My Knees", "And It's Supposed to Be Love", "Life Is Real" and "Help Is Coming". Joyful became one of the best selling albums in Europe in 2007. And now, you may download Ayo's breakthrough album, Joyful, in mp3 from our site.
