Biography

English rock band Bauhaus was formed in 1978 in Northampton, England. The band members were Peter Murphy (vocals), Daniel Ash (guitar), Kevin Haskins (drums) and David J (bass). The band finally broke up in 2008. At first the band was known as Bauhaus 1919 but later they decided to drop numbers. The band had a dark and gloom imagery thus they are considered to be the first gothic rock group. The band has released five studio albums but they didn’t reach the commercial success. Their highest-charting album was The Sky’s Gone Out reaching number 4 on the UK Albums chart. Their singles charted as well but the only one which entered the top 20 was a cover for David Bowie’s song “Ziggy Stardust”. It peaked at number 15 in the UK and at number 13 in Ireland.
