Biography
American music band Beirut comes from Santa Fe, New Mexico, the United States. Initially, the band was begun as the solo project of Zach Condon but later it evolved into a big band. The first their performances were held in 2006. The live line-up composes of many musicians, some of them are Perrin Cloutier (cello, accordion), Jason Poranski (guitar, mandolin, ukulele), Nick Petree (drums), Kristin Ferebee (violin), Paul Collins (organ/keys/tambourine/ukulele), Jon Natchez (baritone sax/mandolin/glockenspiel), Kelly Pratt (trumpet/euphonium). Zach Condon plays a rotary valve flugelhorn and the ukulele as his main instruments. Condon knew about the Balkan music and it influenced him a lot, especially Goran Bregovic and Boban Markovic. Beirut’s unique sound fuses American mainstream rock with pop and Balkan and Eastern European folk. You can download Beirut’s last release March of the Zapotech EP in mp3 from our site.
