Biography
Black Francis (birth name Charles Michael Kittridge Thompson IV) is an American rock, alternative rock and roots music singer-songwriter and guitarist. He was born on April 6, 1965, in Boston, Massachusetts. He quickly gained popularity in the middle 1990s as a member of alternative rock music band Pixies. The group's members also were Joey Santiago, Kim Deal, and David Lovering. They are best known for their hit singles such as "Monkey Gone to Heaven", "Here Comes Your Man", "Velouria" and "Dig for Fire". Later, he founded Frank Black and the Catholics act. He came to prominence as a solo artist with his breakthrough album, Bluefinger, which yielded several hit singles such as "Threshold Apprehension", "Test Pilot Blues", "Lolita", "Tight Black Rubber" and "Angels Come To Comfort You".
