English rock musician, guitarist, songwriter, vocalist, producer and astrophysicist Brian May, birth name Brian Harold May was born on July 19, 1947 in Hampton, London, England. Many critics consider May a virtuoso guitarist. He usually plays his “Red Special” guitar, a home built instrument. He cites Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck to be his guitar heroes. May is known best of all as a lead guitarist of the rock band Queen. He has written such Queen hits like “I Want it All”, “Too Much Love Will Kill You”, “We Will Rock You”, “Hammer To Fall”, “Fat Bottomed Girls”. The Rolling Stone magazine included May in their list of 100 Greatest Guitarists of all Time, putting him on 39th place. Besides his career in Queen, May pursued a solo career as well.
