Biography

Carcass are an English D-beat, grindcore, death metal, melodic death metal and goregrind band that was founded in 1986 as Disattack. The group's members are Jeff Walker (vocals, bass guitar), Bill Steer (lead guitar, backing vocals), Michael Amott (lead guitar) and Daniel Erlandsson (drum). The emerged on the British metal scene in the middle 1980s with their demo entitled A bomb drops. Later, they produced more several demos such as Symphonies of Sickness, Flesh Ripping Sonic Tormen and Heartwork. The last one brought a record contract to the band. They achieved mainstream success in the late 1980s with their first album, Reek of Putrefaction, which yielded the single, "Genital Grinder", "Regurgitation of Giblets", "Maggot Colony", "Pyosisified (Rotten to the Gore)" and "Carbonized Eyesockets".
