American folk rock, jazz and pop singer-songwriter Carole King, birth name Carole Klein was born on February 9, 1942 in New York City, New York. During the 1960s she and her husband Gerry Goffin wrote many hits. She was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. As a singer she rose to fame in the beginning of the 1970s when she released her album number one Tapestry. The album was so popular that it was certified Diamond in the United States. She spread her popularity in the UK, Japan and in Europe as well. Her next album Music was certified Platinum and the next albums released during the 1970s were certified Gold.
