Carrie Underwood (birth name Carrie Marie Underwood) is an American country pop singer and songwriter. She was born on March 10, 1983, in Checotah, Oklahoma, United States. She quickly gained popularity after winning the fourth season of American Idol in 2005. She has said in recent interviews that after hearing the hit Clay Walker song, "Then What?", she knew a career in country music was her calling. She achieved mainstream success with her first album, Some Hearts (2005), which was certified seven times platinum. The album spawned three number one hit singles on the Billboard Country charts in the United States and Canada: "Jesus, Take the Wheel", "Wasted", and her biggest hit to date, "Before He Cheats", and the number two hit "Don't Forget To Remember Me", which also hit number one on the "Radio & Records" country chart.
