Biography

Scottish music band Cocteau Twins was from Grangemouth, Scotland. The band was founded in 1979 by Robin Guthrie (guitar, drum machine) and Will Heggie (bass guitar). The twosome met Elizabeth Fraser at one of the discos and she joined the band as vocalist. Heggie was not a long time member and he left the band in 1983. He was replaced by Simon Raymond (bass guitar, guitar, keyboards). The band’s name was taken after the same-titled song by the band Simple Minds. At the beginning of their career, the band was under the influence of other bands including Joy Division, Sex Pistols, The Birthday Party and others, however, they worked out their own sound. The band has released nine studio albums and quite a number of singles and compilations. You can download Cocteau Twins’ compilation Stars and Topsoil in mp3 from our site.
