Famous English writer and doctor of medicine Sir Arthur Conan Doyle was born on May 22 1859 in Edinburgh, Scotland and died on July 7, 1930 in Crowborough, East Sussex. He is known to the world readers for his stories about Sherlock Holmes and the adventures of the professor Challenger. Besides these stories he wrote many other books, yet not so well-known by the mass audience, for example The Mystery of Cloomber, The Tragedy of the Korosko, The Great Boer War, The Black Doctor and Other Tales of Terror and Mystery etc. Some of the most famous stories about Sherlock Holmes include The Hound of the Baskervilles, The Sign of Four, A Study in Scarlet and many others.
