David Byrne is a Scottish-American experimental pop music, new wave and alternative rock singer-songwriter and musician. He was born on May 14, 1952, in Dumbarton, Scotland, UK. In the mid-1970, he founded rock band Talking Heads. The band's music style combined different elements of punk rock, avant-garde, pop, funk and art rock. It was active between 1974 and 1991. Byrne achieved success as a solo artist with his breakthrough album, Rei Momo, which produced several hit singles such as "Independence Day", "Make Believe Mambo", "Call of the Wild", "Dirty Old Town" and "Rose Tattoo".
