David Cook (birth name David Roland Cook) is an American alternative rock and post-grunge singer-songwriter. He was born on December 20, 1982, in Blue Springs, Missouri, United States. He began singing in second grade, when his elementary school music teacher gave him a part in a school Christmas performance. He proceeded to perform in virtually every Christmas and PTA program. He gained popularity after winning the seventh season of the reality television show American Idol. In 2008, David Cook released his self-titled first album, David Cook, which you may download in mp3 from our site. The album's lead single, "Light On", was produced by Grammy winning producer Rob Cavallo, who has produced hits for Green Day and Kid Rock. Other singles from the album are "Bar-ba-sol", "Come Back to Me" and "Permanent". The album was also certified Platinum. He also performed "Light On" and took the stage once again to perform "Go Your Own Way" by Fleetwood Mac with fellow American Idol winner Carrie Underwood.
