Depeche Mode are an English electropop and new wave band that originally was formed in 1980, and currently consists of Dave Gahan (lead vocals), Martin Gore (keyboards, guitar, vocals, chief songwriter) and Andrew Fletcher (keyboards). The band's influence is spread throughout different genres of music. The band's influence on heavy metal bands is clear through the numerous covers of their songs. The band's best selling album, Violator, was released in 1990. It spawned four singles, "Personal Jesus", "Enjoy the Silence", "Policy of Truth" and "World in My Eyes". The lead single, "Personal Jesus", reached #13 on the UK Singles Chart and #28 on the Billboard Hot 100. The second single, "Enjoy the Silence", won Best British Single at the 1991 Brit Awards.
