Biography
The Drifters are an American R&B and doo wop band from New York that was founded in 1953 by Clyde Chatter. It currently comprises Terry Pinckney, Ron Chatter, Chuck Cocker ham and Richard Knight Dunbar. They achieved mainstream success in the late 1950s with their biggest hit "There Goes My Baby", which peaked at number two on the Hot 100 and at number one on the R&B chart. They continued the success with their following single, "Save the Last Dance for Me", which also reached number one on the U.S. pop chart and number one on the U.S. R&B chart. Since this time, they released a large number of hits such as "Some Kind of Wonderful", "Sweets for My Sweet", "Please Stay", "Stranger on the Shore", "Up on the Roof", "On Broadway", "Under the Boardwalk" and "Memories Are Made of This".
