Dropkick Murphys are an Irish-American Celtic punk, punk rock and hardcore punk band that was formed in 1996 by Al Barr, Ken Casey and Matt Kelly, and currently consists of Al Barr, Ken Casey, Matt Kelly, James Lynch, Scruffy Wallace, Tim Brennan and Jeff DaRosa. The band has made a name for itself and built a following as a result of their non-stop touring all over the world and their famous St. Patrick's Day weekend shows, which are held in and around Boston. They are known for supporting trade unions and the working class. The band is also well-known for their patronage of the Boston Red Sox, Boston Bruins and the Boston Celtics. In 1998, they released their breakthrough album, Do or Die. This album prodeced three singles, "Skinhead on the MBTA", "Finnegan's Wake" and "Cadence to Arms".
