Duke Ellington, birth name Edward Kennedy Ellington born on April 29, 1899 in Washington, D.C., the U.S. and died on May 24, 1974 in New York City, New York, the United States was one of the greatest jazz musicians, jazz band leader, pianist, arranger and composer. During his triumphal career he performed in White House, in Europe, in USSR, with Boston symphonic orchestra, he was introduced to British Queen Elizabeth and to princess Margaret during the Art Festival in England. He also gave concerts with Ella Fitzgerald and toured in Japan, Middle and Far East in South America and in Mexico. He received 11 Grammy Awards, and other multiple prestigious awards like President Medal of Freedom and Legion Honor in France.
