American jazz vocalist Ella Fitzgerald, birth name Ella Jane Fitzgerald was born on April 25, 1917 in Newport News, Virginia, the U.S. and died on June 15, 1996 in Beverly Hills, California, the U.S. She was called First Lady of Song, Queen of Jazz and Lady Ella. Her vocal abilities spanned three octaves and she is considered to be one of the greatest jazz vocalists of all time. Nobody could have such a great technique of voice improvisation like she did. She debuted on the stage at the age of 17 and later performed with big bands. In the end of 1950s she recorded almost all classical American repertoire and several albums were dedicated to hits by Gershwin brothers, Duke Ellington and Irving Berlin.
