American indie rock band the Fiery Furnaces was formed in Brooklyn, New York, the United States in 2000. The band was founded by two siblings Matthew Friedberger and Eleonor Friedberger. Matthew is a songwriter and arranger and Eleanor is a vocalist. They were playing and making music together until 2004 when they were joined by musicians for live performances. Right now, the supporting members are Jason Loewenstein and Bob D'Amico. The band is currently signed to Thrill Jockey Records. The band’s sound can be classified as indie rock, indie pop, psychedelic pop and experimental rock. They have released nine studio albums and several singles, though the band hasn’t achieved any significant mainstream and commercial success. They released two albums in 2009.
