Gandalf (birth name Heinz Strobl) is an Austrian new age, metal and death metal musician. He was born on October 25, 1952, in Vienna, Austria. He appeared on the European music scene in the early 1980s with his breakthrough debut album, Journey to an Imaginary Land, which was highly praised by critics. This record yielded his first hits "The Peaceful Village", "March Across The Endless Plain" and "The Fruitful Gardens". This record also has been certified gold in Austria. He continued the success with his following album, Visions, which produced several singles such as "The Magician's Theme", "Dance Of The Fairy-Children", "Theme", "The Keeper Of The Old Forest", "Theme" and "Strenge Mountain Scenes".
