Gladys Knight is an American R&B and soul singer-songwriter and actress. She was born on May 28, 1944, in Atlanta, Georgia, United States. In the early 1950s, she along with her brother Merald, sister Brenda and two cousins William and Elenor Guest founded a soul band called The Pips. In 1962, the band changed its name to Gladys Knight & the Pips. They were well known for a collection of the hits such as "I Heard It Through the Grapevine", "Midnight Train to Georgia", "The End of Our Road", "Neither One of Us (Wants to Be the First to Say Goodbye)" and many others. She achieved mainstream as a solo singer in 1991 with her breakthrough album, Good Woman, which spawned two greatest hits, "Men" and "Superwoman" (featuring Dionne Warwick and Patti LaBelle). The album's lead single, "Men", peaked at number two on the R&B single chart. On that album, she collaborated with Babyface.
