Biography

Iona is a British progressive Celtic rock band which was formed at the end of 1980s. The founding members of the band were Joanne Hogg, David Fitzgeralnd and Dave Bainbridge. Bu 1990 the band was joined by Terl Bryant (drums), Nick Begs (bass), Fiona Davidson (Celtic harp), Peter Whitfield (string instruments), Troy Donockley (Irish bagpipe) and Frank Van Essen (percussions). Later the band’s lineup changed and the current members are Joanne Hogg – lead vocals, keyboards and acoustic guitar, Dave Bainbridge – lead guitar, Frank Van Essen – drums, percussion and violin and Phil Barker – bass. The band has released six studio albums and some of them were conceptional. Like the debut album Iona devoted to the history of island Iona and The Book of Kells which told the episodes from the same-titled book.
