Ivy Queen (birth name Martha Ivelisse Pesante) is a Puerto Rican reggaeton singer and songwriter. She was born on March 4, 1972, in Añasco, Puerto Rico. She began her career as a vocalist and songwriter of The Noise band. In 1997, she released her debut album, En Mi Imperio. It did not achieve any commercial success, but was praised by critics. Her following album, The Original Rude Girl, was released in 1998 and it included Wyclef Jean as a guest appearance. After this release, she took a break. Only in 2004, she released her third and most successful album, La Diva, which yielded several singles such as "Babe", "Sangre" (feat. Mexicano), "Tú No Puedes", "Money Making" (feat. Japanese & Gran Omar), "Venganza" and "Bounce" (feat. Bimbo). It also was produced by Luny Tunes and DJ Adam. La Diva has been certified platinum in the US.
