Biography

Jamiroquai is a British alternative, acid jazz, funk and disco band that was formed in 1992 by Jay Kay (vocals), Toby Smith (keys) Stuart Zender (bass), Nick Van Gelder (drums), Wallis Buchanan (didgeridoo). The band currently consists of Jay Kay, Rob Harris, Paul Turner, Matt Johnson, Derrick McKenzie, Sola Akingbola, Lorraine McIntosh, Hazel Fernandez and Sam Smith. They quickly gained popularity in 1993 with their first album, Emergency on Planet Earth, which received positive critics reviews. It also spawned the hits including "Didgin' Out", "Blow Your Mind", "Emergency on Planet Earth", "When You Gonna Learn (Didgeridoo)" and "Too Young to Die". The band achieved worldwide success with its third album, Travelling Without Moving, which produced two hit singles, "Virtual Insanity" and "Cosmic Girl".
