Jill Scott is an American soul and R&B singer-songwriter and actress. She was born on April 4, 1972, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, U.S. She is well known as co-writer of the Grammy Award winner song, "You Got Me", which was performed by Erykah Badu and The Roots. She quickly gained popularity in 2000 with her first album, Who Is Jill Scott? Words and Sounds Vol. 1, which yielded several singles including "Gettin' in the Way", "A Long Walk", and "He Loves Me (Lyzel in E Flat)".
