Jimmy Eat World is an American alternative rock and pop punk band that was formed in 1993 and currently consists of ead vocalist and guitarist Jim Adkins, guitarist and backing vocalist Tom Linton, bassist Rick Burch and drummer Zach Lind. Singer and guitarist Jim Adkins and drummer Zach Lind, who had been friends since kindergarten, joined with guitarist Tom Linton and bass player Mitch Porter to try their hand at music. The band rose to fame with their most successful album, Bleed American (2001), which produced several singles such as "Bleed American", "The Middle", "Sweetness" and "A Praise Chorus". The album's second single, "The Middle", became the band's biggest single to date, reaching number 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
