Joe Gibbs (birth name Joel A. Gibson; 1943, Montego Bay — 21 February 2008) is a Jamaican reggae musician and record producer. He was well known for collaborations with various bands and artists including The Pioneers, Jacob Miller, Sylford Walker, The Mighty Diamonds, Errol Dunkley, Ken Parker, Gregory Isaacs, Prince Alla and Junior Byles. He began his music career as a record produced, later he met Lee Perry, and they decided to form their own record label, Amalgamated. In the early 1970s, along with Nicky Thomas he produced the international hit, "Love of the Common People", which reached number nine on the UK Singles Chart. Gibbs achieved mainstream success as a solo singer in the mid-1970 with his album, State Of Emergency, which spawned the singles, "Bounty Hunter", "Rawhide Kid", "Donald Quarrie", "Wicked And Dreadful" and "Revenge".
