Biography

John Michael Montgomery is an American country music singer, songwriter and guitarist. He was born on January 20, 1965, in Danville, Kentucky. In the beginning, he performed along with his father at local bars and clubs. Later, he recorded his demo song, which brought a contract with Atlantic Records for him. He came to prominence in the early 1990s with his first release, Life's a Dance, which produced several singles such as "Life's a Dance", "When Your Baby Ain't Around", "Line on Love" and "I Love the Way You Love Me". Several years later, he released his best selling and multi-platinum album, Kickin' It Up, which spawned the hit singles such as "Rope the Moon", "If You've Got Love", "Be My Baby Tonight" and "I Swear". This record peaked at number one on the Billboard 200 and has been certified platinum four times in the US.
