Irish expatriate author, poet and playwright James Augustine Aloysius Joyce, known mainly as James Joyce was born on February 2, 1882 in Rathgar, Dublin, Ireland and died on January 13 1941 in Zurich, Switzerland. During most part of his life he lived abroad being self-exiled. At the age of 22 he went in Paris, soon came back to Ireland because of his mother illness and after her death he returned in continental Europe with Nora, his future wife. He changed professions a lot, he was a journalist, teacher etc. Shortly before the outbreak of the WWI he and his wife moved to Zurich where he began working on his novel A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man as well as on some chapters of his landmark novel Ulysses.
