Spanish pop singer-songwriter Julio Iglesias, birth name Julio José Iglesias de la Cueva was born on September 23, 1943 in Madrid, Spain. Iglesias was a goalkeeper in Real Madrid but had to finish his sport career due to the car accident. He was paralyzed except for hands. Thus, he learnt to play a guitar and began writing songs. Soon he recovered and left the hospital finally. He studied in England, at first in London and then in Cambridge. Iglesias rose to fame in 1970s, 1980s with his romantic ballads. His popularity is immense. He has sol about 300 million copies of his records and he is considered the most successful Spanish speaking singer. He recorded albums in many languages including German, French, Italian, Portugues, Hebrew, Japanese and others. Some of his hits are Amor, Nostalgie, Nathalie, Crazy, Mummy Blue and others.
