Biography

English piano rock and alternative rock band Keane was formed in 1997, in Battle, East Sussex. The group consists of Tim Rice-Oxley, Tom Chaplin and Richard Hughes. Keane's debut album, Hopes and Fears (2004), which you may download in mp3 from our site, achieved success in the United Kingdom upon its release and very high sales worldwide. It topped the UK album charts upon release, was the best selling British album of 2004, and has since gone eight times platinum. The album also yielded the hit singles, "Somewhere Only We Know", "Everybody's Changing" and "Bedshaped". The band's second album, Under the Iron Sea, was released in 2006. During its first week on sale in the UK, the album went to #1. The band describes Under the Iron Sea as a progression from Hopes and Fears with electronic influences, describing the record as a "sinister fairytale-world-gone-wrong". In 2008, both Hopes and Fears and Under the Iron Sea were voted by readers of Q magazine within the best British albums ever.
