Kenny G (birth name Kenneth Bruce Gorelick) is an American smooth jazz and adult contemporary composer and songwriter. He was born on June 5, 1956, in Seattle, Washington, U.S. He began playing saxophone when he was only 12 years old. During this time, he tried to emit the sound that he was hearing. At the age of 17, he joined the Barry White's Love Unlimited Orchestra. Later, he became a member of The Jeff Lorber Fusion. This collaboration brought him a contract with Arista Records in the early 1980s. He quickly gained popularity as a solo artist with his breakthrough self-titled album, which produced his first hits such as "Crystal Mountain" and "Come Close". In 1992, he released his best-selling and multi-platinum album, Breathless, which debuted at number 1 on the Contemporary Jazz Albums chart and number 2 on the Billboard 200. It also spawned the hits, "Sentimental", "By the Time This Night Is Over" and "Forever in Love". In 1994, "Forever in Love" won a Grammy Award for Best Instrumental Composition.
