American folk and pop group Kingston Trio was formed in Palo Alto, California, the United States in 1957. The original line-up composed of Dave Guard (b. October 19, 1934–d. March 22, 1991), Bob Shane (February 1, 1934), and Nick Reynolds (b. July 27, 1933–d. October 1, 2008). The original line-up performed for ten years only and now the band features totally other members - George Grovem, Bill Zorn and Rick Dougherty. The band quickly gained the popularity at the end of the 1950 and folk revival is associated mainly with them. They inspired the Recording Industry Association of America to add “folk category” in the Grammy nominations and they were the first ones who won Grammy for Best Ethnic or Traditional Folk Recording (second studio album At Large - 1960).
