Biography
German electronic music composer and musician Klaus Schulze was born on August 4, 1947 in Berlin, Germany. He is a very prolific author, having released about 110 CDs in total including more than 40 albums. He is also known under the name Richard Wahnfreid. He took this name because of his passion for Richard Wagner’s music. Wahnfreid is the place where the great composer was buried. One of Schulze’s compositions is titled Wahnfreid 1883 (year of Wagner’s death). The debut album Irrlicht was released in 1972. Before starting a solo career Schulze was a drummer in an electronic band Tangerine Dream and later he co-found another band Ash Ra Tempel. One of the most influential his albums are Timewind (2006) and Mirage (1977). They are included in the list 25 Most Influential Ambient Albums.
