Marc Anthony is an American and Latin salsa, pop and latin pop singer-songwriter and actor. He was born on September 16, 1968, in Manhattan, New York City, New York, U.S. He achieved mainstream success in 1997 with his breakthrough album, Contra La Corriente, which won "Best Tropical Album of the Year". His follow-up self-titled album was released in 1999. The album debuted in the Top 10 of the Billboard 200 and has since gone Platinum in the US. It also yielded the hit singles, "I Need To Know", "You Sang to Me", "My Baby You" and "Da La Vuelta". The album's lead single, "I Need To Know", received three Latin Grammy nominations, Song of the Year, Record of the Year and Best Male Pop Vocal Performance, winning for Song of the Year at the Latin Grammy Awards of 2000.
