Biography

American folk and country music singer-songwriter Mary-Chapin Carpenter comes from Princeton, New Jersey, the United States. She was born on February 21, 1958 and began her music career at the end of the 1980s. At first, she was singing in bars in the Washington D.C. area. She was noticed by Columbia Records and was signed. The peak of her career was at the beginning of the 1990s when she released two consecutive very successful albums – Come On Come On and Stones in the Road. The former album earned her 4 x Multiplatinum certification and the latter yielded her only single number one “Shut Up and Kiss Me”. She received five Grammy Awards, two Academy of Country Music Awards and two Country Music Association Awards.
