Mary J. Blige, birth name Mary Jane Blige was born on January 11, 1971 in The Bronx, New York, United States. She’s one of the most popular American R & B, soul and hip hop singers, she’s also a songwriter, music producer and actress. She began broke up the charts at the beginning of 1990s singing in the genre “hip-hop soul” which was produced by Sean Combs. Though later she moved to the mainstream soul. The biggest her hit in 1990s was the track “Non Gon’ Cray” which entered the soundtrack for the movie “Waiting to Exhale” with Whitney Houston. In 2001 she reached the top spot of the Billboard Hot 100 for the first time in her career. That was the song “Family Affair” produced by Dr. Dre. Her last album Growing Pains was released in 2008.
