Biography
Massive Attack is a British hip-hop, neo-soul, electronica and post-punk band that was formed in 1988 and currently consists of Robert "3D" Del Naja ("D") and Grant "Daddy G" Marshall ("G"). They quickly gained popularity in 1991 with their debut album, Blue Lines, which produced several hit singles such as "Unfinished Sympathy", "Be Thankful for What You've Got" and "Safe from Harm". A fusion of electronic music, hip hop, dub music, '70s soul music and reggae, the album established Massive Attack as one of the most innovative British bands of the 1990s and the founder of trip hop's Bristol Sound. In 2003, the album was ranked number 395 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time. The album's song "Unfinished Sympathy" also appeared on the soundtrack for the 1993 Sharon Stone film Sliver.
