Biography

MxPx is an American pop punk and punk rock and hardcore punk band that was formed in 1992, in Bremerton, Washington and currently consists of Mike Herrera (Lead vocals, Bass Guitar, Keyboard), Tom Wisniewski (Lead Guitar, background vocals) and Yuri Ruley (drums, percussion, background vocals). The group quickly attracted the attention of Tooth & Nail Records. So in 1993, they were signed with this label. And after this deal, they started to work on their debut album very hard. Their first breakthrough album, Pokinatcha, was released in 1994. During this time, the band's members were still in high school. This album was classified as Christian punk, but it also incorporated the sound of hardcore punk. Their most commercially-successful album, Slowly Going the Way of the Buffalo, was released in 1998. This album yielded the singles, "The Downfall of the Western Civilization", "Invitation to Understanding", "Fist vs. Tact" and "What's Mine Is Yours".
