Biography

One of the most successful American solo singers Neil Diamond (full name Neil Leslie Diamond) was born on January 24, 1941 in New York City in the family of Jewish immigrants from Poland and Russia. He’s the most popular artist only after Elton John and Barbara Streisand. When he was young he used to sing in a church choir with Streisand. Many years later they recorded a massive hit “You don’t bring me flowers” which reached number one on the American charts. Diamond reached the mainstream success in 1967 when his joke song “I’m a Believer” was performed by the Beatles-parody group The Monkees. The next his great hit was Sweet Caroline inspired by the daughter of the president Kennedy. This song was performed by Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra and Bobby Womack. In 1980s Diamond’s career went down but he came back triumphally with his last album “Home Before Dark” which is the first his album which debuted at #1.
