Biography
Nick Drake, birth name Nicholas Rodney Drake was an English musician and singer-songwriter from and upper middle-class family form on June 19, 1948 in Rangoon, Burma and died on November 25 1974 in Tanworth-in-Arden, England. He is known first of all for his sad and gloomy songs played with just acoustic guitar. During last years of his life he suffered from insomnia and depression and this reflected in his lyrics. He died from the overdose of antidepressant. In 1968 he signed a deal with a major label Island Records when he was just 20 years old. By 1972 he released two studio albums but during his lifetime none of them was sold out. During 1970s his works weren’t popular as well though later his persona took the attention of the public. Many musicians including Robert Smith, leader of the famous band The Cure, cited Drake as one of his influences.
