Notorious B.I.G. (birth name Christopher George Latore Wallace; May 21, 1972 – March 9, 1997) was an American hip hop singer, songwriter, rapper and record producer. As a teenager, he began rapping. During this time, he performed on the streets with his rapping. Later, he recorded the demo tape under the stage name Biggie Smalls. It attracted the attention of Bad Boy record label, and very soon, he signed with it. In 1994, he released his debut multi-platinum album, Ready to Die, which yielded the hits such as "Juicy", "Big Poppa" and "One More Chance". The album's second single, "Big Poppa", reached number six on the Billboard Hot 100 and number one on Hot Rap Singles. It also was certified platinum in the US and was nominated at the 1996 Grammy Awards for Best Rap Solo Performance. The album's final single, "One More Chance", peaked at number 2 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and number 1 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles.
