Biography

Pantera was a heavy metal band from Arlington, Texas, the U.S. formed in 1981. The original line –up consisted of Abbott brothers Vinnie Paul (drums) and Dimebag Darrell (guitar), who were the group founders, Rex Rrown (bass) and of Terry Glaze (vocals). Since then the band faced many changes in its line-up and the last one was almost the same but with another vocalist Phil Anselmo. The band was heavy influenced by such acts like Van Halen and Kiss, but their style changed in the late 1980s. They are considered to be the pioneers of such subgenre as groove metal. It took Pantera nine years to reach the mainstream success. They signed a deal with a major label and the debut album with them became a real breakthrough.
