The Pirate Queen musical is a collaboration between French authors Claude-Michel Schönberg (music), Alain Boublil (French lyrics) and American lyricists Richard Maltby, Jr. and John Dempsey (both English lyrics adaptations). The French authors are best known for their adaptation of the French classic novel Les Misérables. The musical is based on the novel Grania: She-King of the Irish Seas by Morgan Llywelyn. The novel tells us a story about life and adventures of pirate and clan leader Grace O’Malley who was the last one to resist English invasion and conquest of Ireland. The main actors and characters of the musical are Stephanie J. Block Grania (Grace O'Malley), Linda Balgord Queen Elizabeth I, Hadley Fraser Tiernan, Marcus Chait Donal and others.
